FIRM FOOTED FOUNDATION
Firm Footed Foundation
In many cultures, feet are symbolic of the very foundation in our journey through life. They root us so we can stand strong in our beliefs, helps us leap away from danger and reveals wisdom when we stumble. We put our best foot forward to give strength when entering a challenging time and land on both feet to rise out of a difficult situation. So when we experience physical pain in our feet, it halts us dead in our tracks.
A foot is constructed with 26 tiny bones that can morph to the contour of any terrain. When our feet are weak, not aligned or not engaged with the rest of the body, injury steps in. Tightness in the calf muscles, a tweak in the knee or crankiness in the hip; each one typically begins at the foundation, your feet. Imagine a car and its wheels are out of alignment. If you drove it, you probably will not go as far and cause unnecessary wear and tear to your vehicle. The imbalance in the tires effects braking distance, ride quality, and even fuel economy. When your foot muscles and ligaments fall out of alignment, a chain reaction of misalignment causes loss of longevity of your physical health (braking distance), stress and anxiety (ride quality), and energy (fuel economy) in your body.
Reflexology is an alternative treatment that has been used for thousands of years by healers in many ancient societies, from Japan to Egypt, to bring the entire body back to a normal state of equilibrium. Feet are viewed as a mirror image to the entire body with points corresponding to our physical anatomy.

Mentally, reflexology stimulates cognitive powers to more effectively handle stresses, boost memory and the entire brain will simply work better and faster. With the increase of blood flow, oxygen rejuvenates thought waves and blood pressure lowers. Common mental ailments of anxiety and depression are managed by clearing the energy in the major chakras, which correspond to major vital organs in the body. The whole system is interconnected, and there is a domino effect between the physical and emotional body.
Reflexology has been connected with stimulating more than 7,000 different nervous endings in a single therapy session. By opening and cleaning out neural pathways, toxins are purged, sleep will be more refreshed, and cells re-grow faster so wounds are able to heal in less time. By aligning the organs to function more efficiently, metabolism is increased so weight management or loss is more successful. When our body is a more proficient system, it can protect from various diseases and promote a more positive mental health.
Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive technique, free of side effects to maintain or restore the health of the mind/body. When you do have an appointment, don’t forget to drink extra water for the next 24 hours to help your body detoxify and make the most of treatment!
